Rui Tenreiro (b.1979 in Mozambique) was educated as an illustrator in South Africa and the UK, and has a master degree in visual storytelling at Konstfack in Stockholm. He works as an illustrator based in Oslo. His debut, «Trost» («Blackbird») (2006), depicts the experience of coming to Norway as an illustrator. At the same time, the story contains the sense of hopeful anticipation connected with arriving in a new place.
His next album, Høytiden («Celebration»), was published in 2008. In this comic his starting point is the classical Japanese story tradition, but executed with his own personal touch. Both of his books have been released in French.
In the spring of 2010 he finished art school with the impressive giant sized Museum.
