Bjørn Ousland

Bjørn Ousland (b. 1959) is educated at the Joe Kubert School of Cartoon and Graphic Art in Dover, New Jersey, and got stories published by Heavy Metal Magazine, DC Comics and Pacific Comics, before returning to Europe. He has been one of the most important names in modern Norwegian comic books working in several styles and genres both for commercial and independent publishers. He made site d’aide three graphic novels about the young girl Solrun in the period 1988–1993. The series was set in site d'aide Norway in the middle ages. He has also made three comics adoptions of Norwegian fairy tales in the period 1999–2002. The book Bisk from 2003 is about a nameless dog, and the stories are told without words in a unique scraperboard technique. During the last couple of years his efforts have mostly been concentrated towards making children’s books, collaborating with several of Norway‚s top writers. His books and comics have received several national awards, and original art from his published works has been exhibited nationally and internationally.
